Thank you for helping shape what comes next

The community survey is now closed.

Thank you to the food entrepreneurs, home-based producers, caterers, food truck operators, packaged-food makers, nonprofit partners, and community members who shared their experiences and ideas.

Your responses are helping Altru Kitchen Company better understand the demand for shared commercial kitchen space, equipment, storage, scheduling, pricing, educational programming, and food-business support across Southeastern Connecticut.

What happens next

  1. 1

    Review the Findings

We are reviewing the survey responses to identify regional needs, common barriers, potential users, and the resources food entrepreneurs need to move from an idea toward licensed production and market readiness.

  2. 2

    Evaluate Feasibility

The findings will inform the next phase of predevelopment, including operating-model development, partnership building, site and equipment considerations, financial planning, and the feasibility of a shared-use commercial kitchen.

This work is being advanced in partnership with Norwich Community Development Corporation and other regional stakeholders.

  3. 3

    Begin Early Programming

While the longer-term feasibility work continues, Altru Kitchen is beginning to develop culinary entrepreneurship workshops, clearer food-business pathways, and connections to existing kitchens, educators, regulators, and technical-assistance providers.
